After reading several reviews online I found a few people were actually using him on laminate and didn't have any problems so, I decided to try for myself and sure enough my floors so far are fine although I do make sure there is plenty of ventilation so the floors dry quickly. I find him very easy to use and I can't understand the problems a couple of people seem to have cleaning him. iRobot have a video demonstration on their website showing how easy it is, simply slip out his vacuum port which is a small length of rubber tubing, his filter and his brush and run these under the water tap then swish some clean water through his water tank and the jobs done literally in 5 mins, if even that. In this time it didn't do a bad job at all and I think would be good on small areas or floors that don't get too dirty. You can then leave it cleaning and go out. But with 2 dogs in winter the floor gets grubby and the machine quickly stops with dirty water and needs cleaning & refilling so you need to go back to it. Then after you restart it the battery dies before it finishes. The battery life is not good enough to cover a larger area so you have to recharge and this means cleaning over 2 days for 1 floor - if you have a number of rooms to do it needs to be running every day!But I could put up with all that as I am outside most of the day & can pop in & out to deal with it - if only it worked and I still had it. It just stopped working 6 weeks after I got it - April 6th (easter), reported it by phone & email'd invoice on the 10th & was promised collection would be arranged that afternoon. The big problem with this is lifespan, mine has started spinning in circles , backing up and stopping after 18 months! For the money this is very poor. I'm kicking myself for buying another Irobot product. I have had their Roomba products before , in fact I have had 4 in 7 years , two that went back under guarantee. Learnt my lesson this time, never again. I have a Karcher RC3000 dry floor cleaner and it has been going for 3 years now. Cost a lot more but in the end it's cheaper than constantly replacing Irobot products. |
